InVitria to Present at WilBio's International Cell Engineering Meeting

Innovator of animal free and defined cell culture media components will feature its productivity maximizing product at WilBio Dec. 2-4, 2008.

Fort Collins, CO. InVitria's Cellastim (recombinant albumin), which has been shown to outperform animal derived albumins in cell culture, will be featured at the 2nd International Cell Engineering Meeting hosted by the Williamsburg BioProcessing Foundation (WilBio) on December 2-4 in Santa Barbara, CA (US).

InVitria's Director of Cell Culture, Dr. Steve Pettit, will present results from the recently completed study entitled, "Recombinant Human Serum Albumin Expressed in Plants Improves the Productivity and Growth Kinetics of CHO" at the 2008 WilBio meeting, which is centered on optimizing cell productivity, stability and safety.

Data from the study showed that Cellastim is a robust supplement for CHO media and can improve both the growth kinetics and productivity of CHO cell lines. Tests have shown that Cellastim outperforms plasma-derived human serum albumin and can result in an average 50% increase in productivity across a variety of chemically defined cell culture media.

"InVitria's Cellastim is a safe and effective alternative for improving cell culture performance," said InVitria President Scott Deeter. "WilBio's 2008 Cell Engineering Meeting will be focused on cell optimization, stability and safety-all of which are a good match for the benefits delivered by Cellastim in cell culture media."
