InVitria Cell Culture Product Line to Headline PEACe

InVitria to showcase its high performance cell culture media supplements at 9th Annual Conference on Protein Expression in Animal Cells (PEACe) in Jackson Hole, WY, Sept. 19-23.

Fort Collins, CO September 10, 2009 – InVitria will showcase its line of high performance, well defined and regulatory friendly cell culture media supplements at the 9th Annual PEACe conference to be held in Jackson Hole, WY, Sept. 19-23.

A major part of the PEACe conference is the industrial workshop session, where InVitria’s Director of Cell Culture Optimization, Dr. Steve Pettit, will present two of the company’s newest cell culture products for CHO Cell Culture and Hybridoma Cell Culture: Zap-CHO and Optiferrin.

About Zap-CHO
“Zap-CHO is a CHO cell culture media supplement that delivers superior growth, faster cell line development and expansion and optimal productivity,” said Dr. Pettit. “Additionally, it replaces fetal bovine serum (FBS) in CHO cell culture with a well defined and completely animal component free supplement. This enables biomanufacturing customers to eliminate the risk of virus and other infectious contaminants emanating from animal-derived media components like fetal bovine serum,” he said.

About Optiferrin
Optiferrin is an animal-free recombinant human transferrin that efficiently delivers iron to cells including stem cells, primary cells, CHO and hybridoma cells. “Optiferrin is a preferred alternative to iron chelators or animal-derived transferrin in cell culture,” said Dr. Pettit. “Optiferrin transfers iron to cells so that they receive exactly the amount of iron it needs for growth,” he continued.

InVitria’s sponsorship of PEACe kick-offs the fall industry events tour. “InVitria is extremely excited to be a part of PEACe,” said Randy Semadeni, InVitria’s Vice President of Business Development. “We see PEACe as an ideal event to interact with dynamic leaders from the mammalian cell culture industry while also sharing the powerful benefits of InVitria’s line of high performance cell culture media supplements.”

Cell Culture Media supplement Blog Strategies for Improving Viral Yield in Vaccine Manufacturing

A recent article in Pharma Times titled "US biopharma: nearly 300 vaccines in R&D," points out that there are currently 300 vaccines either in clinical studies or under review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While not all vaccines are cell culture derived vaccines, it does indicate that a large number of cell culture based viral vaccines are in the pipeline and that perhaps viral vaccine manufacturing should be examined. One area under consideration is how to improve viral yield so that vaccines can be made at lower cost ... Read More
