Serum albumin is a common blocking reagent used in diagnostic applications. Since Albumin DX-LR is recombinant albumin produced in a completely animal-free system, it is immunoglobulin and protease free. This reduces non-specific binding and cross reactivity thus improving specificity and reproducible results. In addition, Albumin DX-LR improves the stability of antibodies and analytes. Unlike bovine albumin or human serum albumin, Albumin DX-LR is a consistent reagent with no lot-to-lot variability or concerns about occupational safety, which arise with animal or human blood products.
